A raft of interactive educational channels are being launched by Granada Media, Anglia Multimedia and the BBC.
Granada's services will be branded Result and will be overseen by Result managing director Chris Hopson.
Thirty schools will receive pilot broadcasts of GSCE science, history and maths related programming, as part of trial organised by the Department for Education and Employment.
Programmes will be linked to websites, allowing teachers and pupils to search for background information.
The trial will start in January 2000.
