While the fate of British versions of US comedies has previously
been cancellation after one season, Loved by You, a rendering of the
American hit, Mad About You, has in its favour John Gordon Sinclair -
whose goofiness can, at times, be rewarding.
To give this effort a fighting chance, Loved by You has been revamped
for British TV by Gary Sinyor, of Leon the Pig Farmer fame. There is
There were three advertisers in the middle break: Wall’s Sausages,
Mirror Group and Revlon’s Almay amazing lash mascara.
All three advertisers were looking for women. The revamped Mirror was
out to attract younger women readers to the paper.
Although not evident in great numbers, the 16- to 34-year-old female
audience was the second best performing group.
Wall’s Sausages was looking for housewives and kids and this kind of
peak-time comedy is perfect for this audience, as it is unlikely to
upset family viewers.
Revlon was after ABC1 women - the highest performing audience - and is
keen to try first-run programmes which might hold sway with a female
