Paul Twivy, the former Bates Dorland group chairman, and Tim
Ashton, the agency’s former executive creative director, formally opened
the doors of their new agency, Circus, this week.
Twivy and Ashton - ousted from top jobs at Dorlands within less than a
year of each other - have teamed up with Tim O’Kennedy, former chief
operating officer of the Lowe Group and Nike’s marketing director at the
time of the ’just do it’ launch, and Dilys Maltby, a Body Shop
consultant on new alliances and ventures and the former client services
director of Imagination.
Circus describes itself as a ’media neutral’ consultancy at the
strategic end of the market which is dominated by management
consultants. However, unlike consultants, Circus aims not only to talk
strategy but to implement it.
Ashton explained: ’Strategic ideas will be executed but not necessarily
as ads - executions could be physical retail space, live events,
roadshows, TV programmes, magazines or indeed any other communication
