UberEats: plans to expand

UberEats is currently available in just three UK cities, but according to a report in the Financial Times, Uber said that more than one million people have downloaded the app in the nine months since launch, a sign of the service's potential market.

On the basis that 55% of the UK’s population can order a car through Uber, the firm said it could replicate this coverage for UberEats.

Similarly to JustEat and Deliveroo, UberEats allows customers to order food from local restaurants at the touch of a button. Its expansion plans will see the service gain a presence at cities including Nottingham, Edinburgh, Leeds and Liverpool.

UberEats currently has ties with more than 5,000 couriers and 2,000 UK restaurants, including Leon and Itsu.

Last month Uber launched an "urgent investigation" after a former employee made allegations of sexual harassment.
