- United Distillers & Vintners is to consolidate its entire sales promotion roster into one or two agencies.
Despite increased relationship marketing activity, handled by a raft of newly-appointed direct marketing agencies, sales promotion activity still accounts for a large proportion of the distiller's communications output.
The consolidation is seen as a further sign that the advertiser is moving away from point-of-sale tactical work in favour of longer-term customer relationship management programmes.
Agencies on UDV's promotions accounts include the Carlson Group's Eleven, IMP, Perspectives and Latitude CBH. It is thought that agencies not currently on UDV's roster have been in talks with a view to presenting for the business.
