- Tom Hunter, the multi-millionaire founder of Sports Division, is planning to launch Toyzone online as a rival to e-Toys, the successful online US toy retailer that last week announced plans to launch in Britain.
e-Toys last week announced it was looking for an advertising agency to back its UK launch.
Toyzone is already one of Britain's largest independent toy retailers. It will launch its net service in the Autumn ensuring that the service is up and running in time for Christmas.
Hunter, who sold Sports Division to JJB Sports for £290m in September last year, has since set up an investment fund to look for opportunities in e-commerce and Toyzone is his first big investment.
Hunter will be partnered in the new venture by Matthew Freud, founder of the PR agency Freud Communications.
