Corteville, who joins the Interpublic-owned network from Omnicom's digital agency Organic, replaces Damian Blackden in the role of head of digital technologies.
Blackden left in December to take on a similar role at Omnicom Media Group.
Before joining Organic, Corteville worked for ZenithOptimedia in North America as the agency's media account director on its HP business.
Corteville has also held senior roles at Beyond Interactive and Grey Global.
At Universal, Corteville will work on brands including Intel, Microsoft, Bacardi and Mastercard.
