Blockbuster has agreed to sponsor a year of programming on Virgin Radio.

Blockbuster has agreed to sponsor a year of programming on Virgin

Radio.

The sponsorship package includes the rebranding of Virgin’s Movie Chart

Show as the Blockbuster Movie Update as well as spot advertising,

promotions and on- and off-air competitions.

Virgin’s movie programme gives listeners showbusiness news and previews

of the latest releases on film, video and DVD. It is presented by Gail

Porter and Mark Forrest and goes on air twice a week, on Mondays and

Fridays.

The deal with Blockbuster will include off-air support such as in-store

promotions and point-of-sale material as well as a print campaign in the

regional press.

Virgin Radio will receive branding in Blockbuster’s free magazine The

Scene, which has a monthly circulation of 600,000.

The advertising and sponsorship deal was negotiated by Booth Lockett

Makin on behalf of Virgin Radio, and Piers Skinner, marketing manager at

Blockbuster.

Skinner said: ’Blockbuster is one of the radio station’s founding

advertisers and the sponsorship deal has reconfirmed the strong

commercial partnership between Blockbuster and Virgin.

’Our involvement with Virgin Radio is the perfect extension of our

advertiser-supplied programme initiative with Channel 5.

’The Movie Chart Show has gone from strength to strength since our

involvement and this agreement with Virgin will increase awareness of

both brands by using through-the-line advertising activity.’
