Virgin Games seeks shop for digital task

LONDON - Virgin Games, the online gambling arm of Richard Branson's Virgin Group, is in the hunt for a digital agency to handle its online brand advertising.

Ross Sleight, the marketing director of Virgin Games, has contacted a number of digital agencies with a brief to produce a strong creative idea for its range of online betting games. Virgin Games has run online advertising in the past but, to date, creative has been produced in-house.

The site, virgingames.com, contains four areas: Virgin Casino, Virgin Poker, Virgin Bingo and Virgin Skills. As well as cash, prizes include Virgin products and services, including a holiday on Necker, Branson's private Caribbean island.

The online gaming market is a lucrative one, with online poker in particular enjoying a spurt of growth. Poker sites claim that more than £600,000 is staked online every minute.

Global revenues currently exceed $1bn. This figure is predicted to rise to $4.6bn by 2009.

Sleight was unavailable for comment.
