The Vodafone and British Library interactive Shakespeare #DigitalLibrary visited 11 cities and towns across the UK, from 25 to 30 April.

The specially designed virtual library shelves used rolls of bookcase-themed wallpaper with built in QR codes. This allowed the public to download rare first editions of 14 Shakespeare plays, including Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet and Midsummer Night’s Dream.

At each location comfy chairs and beanbags were offered for people to relax and read their recently downloaded Shakespeare books in comfort.

Brand experience agency Drive and Mischief PR worked on the initiative.

"It’s been a real pleasure teaming up with Mischief PR, Vodafone and the British Library to achieve their vision of what’s turning out to be a really exciting and vibrant event," said Drive Productions' CEO Ben Fender.

Helen Lamprell, Vodafone UK’s director of corporate & external affairs, added: "Mobile technology is playing an increasingly vital role in bringing culture and communities together and this wonderful initiative with the British Library builds on our global campaigns supporting young people’s constructive use of digital technology."
