Volkswagen has released a TV and cinema ad to promote technology that switches off a car’s engine whenever it comes to a standstill. The spot, by Adam & Eve/DDB, shows a father taking his child out for a drive to get him to sleep. The plan works until the car stops and VW’s start/stop technology kicks in, switching off the motor and disturbing the baby. This happens several times before the father spots another man in the same position. The ad ends with the line: "At least you’ll save money on fuel." It was created by Nikki Lindman and Toby Brewer, and directed by James Rouse through Outsider.
