Ware, who currently runs accounts including Waitrose, Apple and Absolut Vodka at Manning Gottlieb, will join The Red Brick Road in March. He was hired by David Hackworthy, a partner at the agency, to work on clients including Sky, Tesco and Heineken.
His hiring follows the departure of Tony Regan, The Red Brick Road's previous communications planning director, last July. The agency said at the time it would not be directly replacing Regan, but would instead use freelance expertise when the need for communications planning experience arose.
However, Hackworthy said that client demand had increased. He added: "We still hold with the fact that all planning is task based, but we have a huge demand for communications planning-based tasks at the moment. Finding the right person is important in this space - there's a lot of airy-fairy communications planning about, but Chris is a grown-up with hard-nosed practical experience of making things happen."
Ware was hired three years ago by Manning Gottlieb, having previously worked at PHD and Carat.
