WCRS has won the UK Volvic business out of BMP DDB in a global
restructuring by Danone of its water portfolio.
Local water brands around the world have been moved among roster Danone
agencies in the move which sees Volvic being awarded to WCRS in the UK
market. The Volvic business is handled elsewhere by the Arnold Worldwide
network, with the sister WCRS shop Devarrieuxvillaret looking after the
business in France.
The Danone reshuffle also sees DDB being appointed globally to the
Ferrarelle brand alongside all the Danone-branded waters. Many
Danone-owned local water brands have also been moved around roster
agencies, such as Badoit in France and Font Velle in Spain.
WCRS's UK appointment will see the agency producing new advertising for
the client next year. BMP's current TV work uses the line "There's
something in the water" while an Englishwoman walks through a French
town with a very passionate population.
Water accounts for a quarter of Danone's group sales and is one of its
three core activities. Rival Nestle, the world's bottled water market
leader, has more than 68 water brands, including Perrier, Vittel and San
Pellegrino.
Danone also owns the Evian brand, handled in the UK by Euro RSCG Wnek
Gosper. That brand is not thought to be affected by the review.
