A creative team from WCRS has taken the top prize at the Newslink
Radio Creative Awards.
Paul Kemp and Vince Chasteauneuf submitted a script for Danish Gold
Bacon, a brand that has yet to be launched. Their entry won a pounds
500,000 campaign to run across Newslink’s 189 stations, along with
planning assistance from Capital Advertising’s Newslink team.
The ad was written in the style of a cookery slot, with a female
voiceover describing how to make a sandwich. The voice describes cutting
the bread, buttering it, washing a tomato and lettuce and squeezing the
bread together, until: ’There you have it - the perfect vegetarian bacon
sandwich.’ Another voice chimes in: ’Rubbish, ain’t it?’ The endline
says: ’You can’t resist the smell of Danish Gold Bacon.’
In second place was Banks Hoggins O’Shea with a spot for Virgin
Interactive’s White Label Doubles, and third was a joint effort by
Branded and the Clinic for the online news service, My Excite.
The entry criteria for the awards stated that the brand or service being
promoted must not have advertised on the radio for three years, and
agencies submitting entries needed their clients’ approval for the work.
