The Week: Advertising news - Adspend falls 3.9 per cent

Total UK advertising expenditure fell by 3.9 per cent last year, with adspend in the fourth quarter of 2008 showing a decline of 9.6 per cent year on year.

The latest figures from the Advertising Association showed that adspend declined in every sector apart from online, which rose by 17.3 per cent in 2008, a drop on its 39.5 per cent rise in 2007. Advertising expenditure for newspapers dropped by 12 per cent across the year.
