The Week: Advertising news - FSA protein ad ban blasted

The Food and Drink Federation has attacked the Food Standards Agency for refusing to lift a protein cap from its nutrient profiling model.

The protein cap prevents foods high in fat, salt or sugar but with a high-protein content being advertised on TV during children's programmes, as outlined by the FSA's model. FSA officials will recommend that the protein cap is retained, despite advice from a two-year-long independent review panel that it should be lifted.
