The Week: Advertising News - Music deal will cut costs

The cost of using large orchestras in commercials will fall by about 50 per cent, thanks to an arrangement between the IPA and the Musicians Union. The deal was struck in the wake of a recent trend for agencies to travel to Eastern Europe to record original music, because the cost is so much lower. Brokered by Leap Music, the deal means there will be fewer restrictions on the length of tracks, or how much they can be cut and edited.
