The Week: Advertising news - Ofcom looks at Home Office

The Home Office's use of public money to fund programmes such as Beat: Life on the Street has come under scrutiny by Ofcom over a possible breach of its broadcasting code.

The ITV show, devised by Manning Gottlieb OMD, follows the work of community support officers. Ofcom rules state that relationships between advertisers and programmes must be transparent and that the sponsor has no editorial control over the programme.
