The Week: Advertising news - Ryanair wins OFT reprieve

The Advertising Standards Authority has decided not to refer the low-cost airline Ryanair to the Office of Fair Trading, despite the company's repeated breaches of ASA rules.

Last week, the airline provoked a showdown with the ASA by refusing to withdraw an ad showing a model wearing a school uniform in a sexually provocative way. The regulator upheld 13 complaints about the ad, which was headed "Hottest back to school fares", and has ordered newspapers not to accept it.
