The Week: Advertising News - Spots cheapest since 80s

The UK television advertising market is set to stabilise this year and will grow in 2008, according to a report from ZenithOptimedia.

The report predicts ad revenue growth of 2 per cent next year, but adds that growth is likely to be static at that level until 2012. TV's overall share of ad revenue will decline, however, from 27.2 per cent in 2006 to 22.7 per cent in 2012. It added that TV spots are the cheapest they have been since the early 80s. Prices fell 6.5 per cent in 2006, and are expected to drop a further 1.4 per cent this year.
