The Week: Advertising News - Streetskins offers new sites

The fronts of empty and closed shops on UK high streets have been turned into advertising space by a media start-up that is cashing in on the misfortune of recession-hit retailers.

Streetskins, which has contracts to carry advertising on 55 retail units, turns the metal shutters of closed or unused shops into graffiti-proof advertising hoardings. Landlords will be given a cut of the cost, which is said to be half that of traditional outdoor space.
