The Week: Advertising News - UK internet ad spend rises

UK advertising spend on the internet increased by almost 50 per cent last year to more than £2 billion, but almost all other media suffered a decline, according to figures from the Advertising Association. Spend on TV was down by 4.7 per cent to £4.6 billion, press was down by 2.7 per cent, radio fell by 7.7 per cent and direct mail was down by 2.1 per cent. Outdoor recorded the only other increase, up 4 per cent, while cinema spend was static. Total ad expenditure across the year was more than £19 billion.
