The Week: Advertising News - Virgin and Sky spends soar

Virgin Media and BSkyB have spent £92 million between them on advertising in the five months to June this year as they fought for subscribers in the wake of their row over carriage rights. According to figures from Nielsen Media Research, Sky spent almost £60 million on advertising between 1 February and 30 June, compared with £44 million last year, while Virgin (above) spent £32 million.
