The Week: Boots kicks off Christmas campaign with Mother TV ad

Boots kicks off its Christmas push on Sunday with the help of 500 women who are getting ready for the office Christmas party.

The 90-second commercial, created by Mother, features women of all ages using a wide range of beauty products from Boots to give themselves glamorous makeovers, while a group of dishevelled men kick their heels waiting for them to arrive. Eight of the women featured are Boots employees.

The ad was filmed over five days in a disused office block in Hemel Hempstead that needed to be resupplied with electricity.

It was directed by Traktor and produced by Partizan, and uses the 40s classic Here Come The Girls by the African-American rhythm 'n' blues singer Ernie K-Doe. The track will be available as a download from iTunes from 7 November.

Print and in-store materials will support the TV effort. Like last year, the campaign uses the endline: "'Tis the season to be gorgeous. Trust Boots."
