The Week: Brand news - Google tops brands survey

Google, the US internet giant, has been named the UK's strongest brand, according to Superbrands' annual survey of top UK business.

The company, which is just ten years old, came out in front of the software giant Microsoft, which was in second, followed by BP, the BBC, GlaxoSmithKline, Rolls-Royce Group, Financial Times, British Airways, Federal Express and Hertz. In 2007, the BBC was top of the table.
