The Week: Brand news - Sainsbury's goes green

Sainsbury's has opened what it claims is the UK's greenest supermarket, with a timber-frame construction, wind turbines and customer toilets that are flushed with rainwater.

The Devon-based store will use 50 per cent less national grid energy and produce 40 per cent less carbon dioxide than a normal store. Its 38 energy-saving measures include a biomass boiler burning wood chips to provide heating, LED lights and solar-powered fans.
