The Week: City - Channel 4 digital fillip

Channel 4 reported a 5 per cent increase in turnover for the financial year to a record £937 million, boosted by growth in its digital division.

The broadcaster's digital channels saw a £40 million jump in ad revenue, helped by Film4's switch to free-to-air. Advertising sales were flat overall at £824 million, with revenues from the core channel down by £39 million. Kevin Lygo, the Channel 4 director of television, said the channel could cut its spend on US programming acquisitions as a result.
