The Week: City news - Aegis remains vulnerable

Aegis, the parent company of Carat and Vizeum, may still be vulnerable to a takeover by the Havas chairman, Vincent Bollore, despite delivering better than expected 2008 results, analysts believe.

The group posted a 25.7 per cent rise in pre-tax profits for the year to £16.8 million and a 21.3 per cent jump in revenue to £1,342 million. However, it said it planned to cut 5 per cent of its workforce, around 780 staff, as part of a cost-saving programme - about 70 will go in the UK.
