The Week: City News - BSkyB subscribers up

BSkyB announced its revenues were up 10 per cent to £4.5 billion for the year ending 30 June, and that it had added 406,000 subscribers, bringing subscriber numbers up to 8.58 million. Since pulling its channels from its cable rival Virgin Media in February, Sky has added 90,000 subscribers. Operating profit was down to £815 million from £877 million, and profits before tax were down from £798 million to £724 million.
