The Week: City News - Dow Jones bid under threat

One of the biggest shareholders in Pearson has objected to the company's proposed offer for Dow Jones and has urged it not to get into a bidding war with Rupert Murdoch. Schroders, which has a 4 per cent stake in Pearson, was reacting to news that the company wants to put together a consortium to make a rival bid to News Corp's $5 billion (£2.5 billion) offer for Dow Jones. Pearson owns the Financial Times. Its shares fell by 11 per cent to 862p following the news.
