The Week: City news - Google's share price rises

Google's share price rose by almost 19 per cent to $532 after the company revealed a 31 per cent rise in profits to $1.31 billion (£655 million) for the first quarter of 2008, backed by 20 per cent year-on-year growth in paid clicks.

UK revenues reached $803 million, 15 per cent of the total net income, down 1 per cent on the same period last year, but up by the same margin on last year's fourth-quarter results.
