The Week: City news - Informa rejects £1.9bn bid

Informa, the business-to-business publisher, has rejected a £1.9 billion cash takeover bid from a private equity consortium involving Providence, Carlyle Group and Blackstone.

The initial approach was made in June, with a potential proposal to buy the company at 506p a share, valuing Informa at £2.15 billion. The investment group's actual offer of 450p a share was turned down. Derek Mapp, the Informa chairman, said it "significantly" undervalued the company.
