The Week: City News - Microsoft buys aQuantive

Microsoft has paid $6 billion in cash for the online advertising network aQuantive, representing $66.50 per share at an 85 per cent premium to share price. The deal gives Bill Gates' technology giant ownership of the largest digital advertising and media agency in the US, Avenue A/Razorfish, and of the UK agency DNA. The acquisition is the largest in Microsoft's history, and means it will now buy ad sites from its rivals Google and Yahoo! as well as from its own MSN.
