The Week: City News - PIRC runs rule over BSkyB

The corporate watchdog PIRC has attacked BSkyB for a lack of independence on its board and a lack of clarity over director pay levels.

The body is recommending that shareholders vote against a re-election of a number of Sky's non-executive directors at its AGM today (23 October). It says that the director, Tom Mockridge, is compromised, because he is also the chief executive of Sky Italia, and it is also concerned over the reappointment of Andrew Higginson, the finance director of Tesco, due to worries over time commitments.
