The Week: City news - Rivals line up Informa bid

Blackstone, the private equity company, is understood to be in talks with rivals Carlyle Group and Providence Equity about the possibility of making a joint bid for the B2B publishing company Informa.

The news comes after Providence and Carlyle lined up a syndicate of banks, led by JPMorgan Chase, to provide most of the debt for the deal. It is believed that Blackstone has begun working with Providence and Carlyle after Hellman & Friedman dropped out of the consortium.
