The Week: City News - Virgin predicts flat figures

Virgin Media has fought back against recent poor analyst predictions by claiming it expects subscriber numbers to remain flat rather than negative in the second quarter of 2007.

The company had previously forecast that numbers would go down in the wake of the withdrawal of Sky's basic channels from its platform. Virgin said it had mitigated the effect of the ongoing Sky row by increasing marketing activity and that it expected a return to growth in the second half of the year.
