The Week: City news - WPP posts half-year growth

WPP posted a 4.3 per cent rise in like-for-like revenue to £3.34 billion for the first half of 2008, with post-tax profits up 16.8 per cent year on year at £23.3 million and overall revenues up 11.8 per cent.

The company's share price fell on the news, dropping 6p to 469.5p per share after its chief executive, Sir Martin Sorrell, described WPP's prospects next year as "less certain".
