The Week: Hyundai hands UK advertising account to M&C Saatchi

M&C Saatchi has been appointed to handle the £12 million UK advertising account for Hyundai without a pitch.

The agency will also work on some as-yet-unspecified pan-European campaigns, which will be allocated on a project basis. It has handled one-off projects for the brand in Europe in the past.

The agency will partner Innocean, Hyundai's in-house agency on the account, working on creative, planning and account-handling duties.

The incumbent on the UK account, VCCP, won the business in 2004 after a final pitch against Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO.

Hyundai Motor America last week also shifted its creative work from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners to the World Marketing Group.

WMG, which is expected to take over the Hyundai work mid-way through 2009, already handles the brand's media accountability and creative media planning accounts.
