The Week: i-Q - The internet question - What do you think of the new TfL ad?

It's worthy, but the people who make buses such a chore to ride won't give a sh*t about this ad, just like they don't give a sh*t about their fellow passengers. - Richard Hayter

That has to be the least packed bus I have seen. - Martine Addis

The problem is the sort of people who do the things the ads talk about are the type of people who won't care about this ad. That's why they're anti-social; they cannot conceive of, or care about, the effects of their actions on others. If you play music out of your phone with no earphones or throw Maccy-Ds cartons on the floor, you are already past the point where reading a cartoon character's T-shirt will influence your behaviour. - Russell Carter

Why does everyone get so angry when the Govt tries to change behaviour by persuasion, and yet meekly accept it when it imposes things through legislation? I would much prefer it if people were persuaded to be polite. - Rory Sutherland

The ad is sadly typical of so much Government spend, a knee-jerk reaction that appears to demonstrate that it is doing something about it, while the reality is that the only thing being managed is tomorrow's headlines. Attacking the real problems is difficult and long term. - Fred Perkins
