The Week: Jones to leave Carat for News International digital role

Neil Jones, the managing director of Carat, is leaving to become the director of digital strategy at News International.

Jones, who has been with the Aegis-owned agency for 18 years, will work alongside Nl's head of trading, Dominic Carter, and both report to the NI managing director commercial, Paul Hayes. It is understood that Jones will take up his new role at the start of April. His replacement at Carat is yet to be named.

Jones' appointment follows the departure of Roland Agambar, the marketing director for The Sun and News of the World, to join its rival Associated Newspapers as its chief marketing officer. Agambar, who had been with NI for five years, will be responsible for marketing across the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday, and will report to Guy Zitter, the managing director of Mail Newspapers.

Agambar's move coincided with NI's appointment of the former Sainsbury's marketer Jeremy Schwartz to the newly created role of chief marketing officer.
