The Week: Media - Freesat launch details

The BBC and ITV are to join forces to launch a subscription-free satellite service, Freesat, in March 2008. The service, which was given the go-ahead by the BBC Trust last week, and will carry up to 200 TV and radio channels, is designed to reach households that are unable to receive Freeview. It will compete against Sky and Virgin Media's satellite and cable offerings.
