The Week: Media news - BBC buys Clarkson shares

BBC Worldwide has bought a controlling stake in Bedder 6, a company set up by Jeremy Clarkson, in a deal that will see the two companies share the commercial development of the Top Gear brand worldwide.

The Corporation paid a nominal fee of £100 for 10,000 shares in the company Clarkson set up with the Top Gear executive producer Andy Wilman in 2006. The deal means Clarkson's company should receive profits for Top Gear merchandising and some commercial activities from the show, including foreign sales of the UK production.
