The Week: Media News - BBC set to cut stars' wages

The BBC is set to cut the amount that it pays its stars, including Jonathan Ross and Jeremy Clarkson, as part of a cost-cutting drive.

The corporation said that wages would be reduced when contracts came up for renewal, with the highest earners most affected. The Sun reported last week that top BBC TV and radio stars, earning more than £100,000 a year, faced 25 per cent pay cuts under the plans. This would include Ross, the BBC's highest-paid star, who is on a three-year deal, thought to be worth £16.9 million.
