The Week: Media News - Blanket job losses forecast

Enders Analysis, the consultancy group, is predicting that as many as 200,000 additional UK media workers will lose their jobs by 2013.

Claire Enders, the company's founder, told Reuters: "We calculated the total jobs in the media in the UK at about 400,000. Between the beginning of 2008 and 2013, we're expecting half of those jobs to go." Significant cuts have already been made across both TV and newspaper groups, with 90 jobs set to be axed at The Independent and The Independent on Sunday, while ITV plans to slash its workforce by 1,000 by early 2009.
