The Week: Media news - Call to charge per TV show

Tony Cohen, the chief executive of FremantleMedia, producer of The X Factor, has called for a new charging system that would see viewers pay around 5p to view TV shows on-demand.

Speaking at the MediaGuardian Changing Media Summit, Cohen revealed that Fremantle's submission to the Digital Britain report argued the case for reducing the fees charged for on-demand TV shows, which currently start from around 99p per show, as well as calling for the introduction of micro-payments.
