The Week: Media news - Facebook hit by knife row

Facebook has been criticised for contributing to the knife crime epidemic among young people by featuring an application that allows users to stab each other "virtually".

By accessing the social networking site's "superpoke" application, people can "shank" other users (a slang word for stab), as well as spit at, punch and karate-chop each other. The "shank" option has now been removed from the site.
