The Week: Media news - ITV to slash 1,000 staff

ITV is to cut around 1,000 jobs, or 17 per cent of its workforce, by early next year.

The company announced plans to cut 430 staff from its news division on Tuesday, and said it had already reduced the headcount across its finance, press and publicity, global content, and brand and commercial divisions by almost 425 positions. A further 75 roles are in the final stages of consultation, and, this week, it has begun a review of its technology department. Together, the cuts will reduce ITV's workforce from around 6,000 to around 5,000.
