The Week: Media News - ITV takes on STV in court

ITV has started legal proceedings against STV, which holds the ITV1 licence in Scotland, in a bid to claim £38 million. It says the money is owed as a result of STV "not honouring its contractual contributions towards the network programme budget". ITV said that STV is trying to opt out of peak time programmes and claim rebates against those programmes that have been written off. STV has said it plans to opt out of broadcasting ITV's daily 6.30pm news programme, replacing it with dedicated news coverage from Scotland.
