The Week: Media news - Listener rise for BBC Radio

BBC Radio's share of national listening rose from 54.4 per cent in the third quarter to 55.4 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2007, according to the latest figures from Rajar.

Commercial radio's overall share dropped to 42.4 per cent, with talkSPORT, Smooth and Heart among the few stations to record increases.

In London, Heart narrowly reclaimed the top commercial radio spot from Magic, recording a 6.2 per cent share of listening to Magic's 6.1 per cent.
