The Week: Media News - Newspaper sales down

In a month that usually sees a lift in circulations, average net sales across the tabloid, mid-market and quality sectors were generally down in September, according to the latest newspaper ABCs.

However, The Guardian, The Times and the Financial Times did record month-on-month increases. The Guardian saw the highest circulation lift, recording a rise of 4.9 per cent; The Times' circulation was up 4.1 per cent, while the FT rose 2.8 per cent month on month. Of the tabloids, only The Sun and the Daily Sport managed to record rises, gaining 0.2 per cent and 0.7 per cent respectively.
